Sudden Valley Golf Club - Bellingham, WA.I've played Sudden Valley Golf Course many times as I used to live across the street. It is one of my favorite layouts statewide! The front nine is flat and relatively open as it meanders around the shores of Lake Whatcom. The back nine alternatively plays along the hillside overlooking the lake. Tight fairways, elevation changes, and tall timber all await. Overall Sudden Valley gives one the feeling of playing two distinct golf courses. The greens are well manicured and generally roll true. Nice golf course. It plays much better in the wet months since they sanded it to death a few years back. One of my favorite tracks in NW WA.

Sudden Valley is a little gem. Even the drive to the course prepares you for the round ahead. Driving through a lane of old growth firs, then opening up to the lake, as you approach the course, gets you thinking that you have a great day ahead. Another plus for me is I have never had a 5 hour round there, and the staff are all part of a polite and happy culture. In short, a great place to play.
