GW Notes:  I've not yet played Capitol City Golf Course. They claim to have a tightish layout with well-manicured greens and the driest course in all the land. Their website says: "Opened in 1963, our championship 18-hole golf course boasts an outstanding traditional course design, with narrow, tree-lined fairways, well-positioned green-side bunkers and exceptional putting greens. With excellent drainage, our golf course provides the driest playing conditions in western Washington year-round." Bold statements for sure regarding the dryness... But because I can't personally speak to their offerings, I'll assume it's all true. If you've played Capitol City, please comment below.

This is my home course and I can confirm that this very well may be the driest course in the winter/rainy months. The course offers a fun layout with four tee positions at each hole. If you stay out of the trees and hit the driver well, you can be within PW or 9I from the green on several of the par 4s. A couple of the par 5s (particularly the 10th) can be reached in two, but they are guarded on each side by large bunkers. The fairways are generally lined by trees and houses on the other side of the trees. There is some elevation change, but it is minimal. During the rainy season, the greens remain quite nice and roll well. The summers are busy, but for cost and playability, I recommend this course for anyone in the area. Make sure to stop by the left fairway bunker on 17 to see the ‘errant golf ball garden’ planted by the homeowner.
